Rob Bedford, volunteered as an advisor at the Health Tech Enterprise Paediatric Health Innovation Sprint held at the historic Imperial War Museum Duxford in Cambridge, UK. This was an incredible event bringing together experts and entrepreneurs to advance children’s health and wellbeing.
Rob and a group of other expert advisors was partnered with Alex Grafton from University of Cambridge. Alex is the founder of Meerkat Neonatal Monitoring, developing constant video monitoring technology for babies in incubators in neonatal intensive care with software that tracks and analyses movement.
We’re delighted to share that Alex Grafton (University of Cambridge) took home the Participants Award. This is a well-deserved recognition of the hard work and vision. Rob was proud to be part of Alex’s winning team and help him work through the commercial, regulatory and clinical problems when starting a medtech company.
With 1 in 3 NICU shifts understaffed, Alex’s technology allows nurses and neonatal doctors to be much more efficient with their time. Alex plans to go much further though – the software he is developing he hopes will be able to detect seizures in babies, allowing for early detection and monitoring of neurological conditions.
Also on the winning team
- Jooeta Murphy – IP21
- Aurélie Lolia – Independent Consultant
- Martin Murphy – 42T Technology
- Al Mills – Sequel Consulting
And a special mention to Mark Cox, founder of Orli – who had a surprise cameo in our team photo and walked away with the main award!
